An experiment that was supposed to unify the minds of humanity is fatally flawed. Humanity is on the verge of extermination and "the Void" is the result."The Void is a dim, viscous space where nothing can be seen.
The few survivors create "Projection Clones" in a desperate attempt to rebuild civilization, and bring back life to the Void. These new life forms are capable of exploring the unexplored to find essential resource. These Projection Clones, which are tasked with finding the hidden islands rising from the Void to retrieve human survivors who have been preserved, represent the only hope of humanity's last hope. The ever-present threat to humanity's survival is Izverg. They are colossal creatures made from negative energy congealing within the Void.
When powerful and feral "Wraiths", threatening to eat the living, invade the Holy Kingdom, the balance is thrown off the Veil. The Wraiths can corrupt and even take over their victims, becoming unstoppable beasts who prey on the common people. Onlythe "Chimeras" or hybrid warriors resulting from the union of two souls are able to protect humanity.
Lute and Briar are sisters that have been reborn in Chimera form. Briar has been given superhuman strength, resilience and mystical abilities through the transformation. Lute was made to be a Chimera to tie her soul to Briar's. Lute and Briar are voiced by Stefanie (Metal Gear Solid 5), who set out on a mission in order to save a destroyed city fromthe Wraiths. However, they discover that their Order has far greater plans.
